This training is designed for individuals who manage or support volunteers within their organisation, offering an overview of key principles and best practices in volunteer management. You’ll explore various aspects of volunteer involvement including planning, recruitment, support, and evaluation.

How will this help?

  • Gain an understanding of the importance of inclusive and supportive practices for volunteers.
  • Applying good practice approaches to help recruit and retain volunteers.
  • Build a strong foundation in the principles of volunteer management.
  • Become aware of legal considerations surrounding volunteers.
  • Identify different methods for measuring and communicating your impact.

You will need to bring your own lunch. Refreshments will be available.

 

Accessibility

This session is a whole day, with planned breaks.

We will be together in the QE 11 room in the centre, which is one large room and may be up to 25 people attending plus two facilitators.

The room is on the first floor and is accessible by either a lift or stairs. There are accessible toilets on the first floor.

There will be large and small groups discussions and activities, and some referencing to PowerPoint slides on the day, as well as Trainers writing notes on flipchart paper on stand in the front of the room. Materials used on the day will be emailed to you afterwards.

Getting to the venue

  • There is a pay and display carpark at the rear of the building. There are accessible parking bays within this carpark – Blue Badge holders will still need to purchase a pay and display ticket when parking in car park. Standard charges apply. There is parking outside the front of the building and are free to park in for up to one hour.
  • The nearest train station is Shoreham-By-Sea which is around a five-minute walk away.
  • There are several routes that take you within walking distance of the Shoreham Centre. Brighton and Hove Bus Company Route 2 and Stagecoach 700 both stop At Shoreham High Street. From here it is only around a five-minute walk.
