About the Green Champion Course
As part of the Climate for Communities Programme, we offer support to 10 organisations this year (also in 2026 and 2027) to complete the Investors in the Environment (iiE) Green Champions Certification and implement sustainability initiatives within their organisations.
This short online course (4–5 hours) is designed for individuals in any job role and within any size of organisation. No prior sustainability experience is required. The course includes free templates and resources, making it easy to follow and apply in real-world settings.
Participants can complete the self-paced modules at their convenience and gain practical knowledge on:
- Conducting basic environmental audits
- Using data to track environmental performance and support decision-making
- Developing action plans and setting realistic sustainability targets
- Cutting carbon and reducing waste using practical tools
- Engaging staff and co-workers in sustainability efforts and communications
Alongside completing the course, each Green Champion will:
- Participate in 8 peer support meetings (a couple of hours each), facilitated by Community Works
- Form a small internal working group (staff, trustees, and/or volunteers) to develop and implement your action plan throughout the year collaboratively
