WE WILL BE OUTDOORS FOR MOST OF THE MORNING SO PLEASE DRESS IN COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR AND APPROPRIATE CLOTHING.

Please also bring:

  • Own drinks or money to buy drinks in cafe (we are not able to provide refreshments)
  • Your own cup for cafe purchased drinks
  • Gardening gloves if you would like to help with a bit of weeding in the communal flower beds!
  • We will have some outdoor seating available but you are welcome to bring your own seat if you wish.

Agenda

9.30am: Arrivals and networking – meet at Brooklands Cafe next to Western Road car park.

9.45am: Welcome from Community Works with context around power of nature in health and wellbeing and some of the challenges. Update on Brooklands development and future plans.

10.15am: Move via accessible footpath to open area where you will spend 20 minutes in each of three areas and benefit from hearing from 3 local groups who use open space for activities that improve health and wellbeing of our residents.

1) The Wellderness Project – 2-minute mindfulness and overview of what they achieve through Activities and community.

2) Cycall – demonstrating Active Play using play equipment.

3) Bees and Seas – talking about hives, beekeeping, sustainability.

11.30am: Comfort break and then come back together as group under Wellderness stretch tent.

11.40am: Reflections and Q&A.

11.50am: Partner updates including update on CIL Funding with David Attmore from Adur & Worthing Councils, Community Works, NHS and Adur & Worthing Councils.

12.15pm: Finish and networking in same place or the Brooklands cafe.

13.00pm: Finish.

Where is the park?

Brooklands Park just north of the coast road (A259 Brighton Road, junction with Western Road) in Worthing, facing the beach. It is about 1.7 miles (2.7km) east of Worthing Pier.

There are car parks:

  • on the southern side of the park, off Brighton Road
  • and the eastern side of the park, off Western Road
  • see: Parking at Brooklands

Please car share where possible or use public transport Google Maps. There are regular buses that stop at the park including ones from local rail stations.
