The Adur and Worthing LCN Safeguarding Subgroup led by Community Works Health and Wellbeing Partnerships Officer, Sue Brown recently ran two webinars on safeguarding one on scam fraud and one on sextortion, which is a crime of blackmail, primarily targeting young men. You can watch them here:

Bernadette Lawrie BEM, Financial Abuse Safeguarding Officer with Operation Signature, Sussex and Surrey Police delivered the webinars.

The group organised the webinars after expressing concerns with the level of scam fraud and sextortion being carried out in Adur and Worthing. These crimes have a link with the rate of attempted suicide, and the group felt it was important to raise awareness of the issues.

The webinars were well attended by people working in the sector in Adur and Worthing, but the message is the same throughout Sussex – please watch and share this important information about these crimes and what you can do to support yourselves and your service users.

The LCN (Local Community Network) is a multi-agency group whose purpose is to identify and deliver interventions that tackle health inequalities in that area.
