Voice and Reps
Community Works represents the voluntary and community sector at a local level. We ensure that our members’ voices and expertise are heard and understood, and that we influence local policy and decision-making.
We achieve this in a number of ways including:
- Community Works staff attending meetings with policy-making partner organisations, including Local Authorities, NHS and funders.
- Undertaking and contributing to research and producing reports such as Taking Account
- Running the Reps programme.
About the Reps
Community Works Reps are leaders from the voluntary and community sector in Brighton & Hove.
They are chosen by our members and serve for up to three years.
The Reps attend a wide range of partnership boards, committees and informal meetings across the local area. They represent the sector’s interests, sharing their knowledge and expertise to inform strategy, policy and decision making.
2025-26 Reps Programme
Our previous three-year Reps programme ended in July 2025.
We are postponing the election of new Reps until May 2026. This is because of local government reforms and devolution plans, which may change the shape of our local authorities and the opportunities for representation.
Instead, we have asked Reps from the previous round to continue attending local meetings.
Following a review, we have also put a new structure in place, with revised roles.
Take a look at our current Reps list on the link below.
If you have any questions about the Reps programme, or any issues you would like Reps to raise on behalf of your organisation and communities you support, please email Magda Pasiut magda@communityworks.org.uk
