AGM Business
At AGM our members will have the chance to vote, elect new trustees to our board and approve our annual accounts. Only your registered lead contact can do this.
If nobody from your organisation received a personal invite or if you are not sure who your registered lead contact is, please email magda@communityworks.org.uk
Keynote speaker
‘What Leading with Joy in Community Work Can Teach You About Belonging’ Bud Johnston and Annie Whilby, Co-Founders, Black Anti-Racism Community Organisation CIC (BARCO).
BARCO is an organisation built on a simple but radical idea: that joy and celebration are themselves tools for inclusion and resistance. This talk introduces BARCO’s ‘joy as resistance’ approach and unpacks how it shapes everything from event design to everyday service delivery. BARCO will share what’s worked and what hasn’t in getting Black communities to walk through the door and stay engaged.
During the event, there also will be an opportunity to learn from Community Works about practical approaches to allyship and its principals.
Finally, you’ll hear more about our ‘Communities Together’ project, which we developed in partnership with Adur Voluntary Action (AVA) to help build connection, inclusion and a sense of belonging across Adur and Worthing.
