Highlights from our latest Health and Social Care Network
Nearly 50 people joined us for our latest Health and Social Care Network at Community Base in Brighton this week.
At our April Health and Social Care Network, attendees had the opportunity to connect and share with other groups working in the sector in Brighton and Hove.
The event was delivered in collaboration with the Sussex VCSE Leaders Alliance (SVLA) and was themed ‘Racial Equity – Addressing Health Inequalities for Black and Racialised Minorities (BRM)’.
Speakers and topics included:
- Health Counts data on health inequalities for Black and Racialised Minorities communities from Louise Knight, Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) Public Health.
- Bridging Change’s work to support BRM and British Minority Ethnic (BME) health and social care from Anusree Biswas and Nora Mzaoui.
- The work of Black and Minority Ethnic Community Partnership (BMECP) in supporting BRM and BME health and social care from Juliet Ssekitoleko and Obi Chukwudumebi.
- Sussex Interpreting Services (SIS) work supporting migrant communities from Vikki Gimson.
- Equalities monitoring work within the NHS from Sayanti Banerjee, NHS Sussex.
Participants had the opportunity to discuss the content of the talks, ask questions, and network with others.

We host the Health and Social Care Network for Community Works members to come together around issues that matter to them. We aim to create an inclusive and friendly space at all networks and are committed to equality and diversity. The Health and Social Care Network aims to involve and inform the voluntary and community sector and strengthen its coordination and leadership in relation to health and social care.
