Community Works Reps’ Nominations are now open!
We’re very excited to announce that our next round of reps elections is open!
Would you like to represent community and voluntary organisations at a strategic level? We are seeking people to represent community groups and voluntary organisations across Brighton & Hove, advocate for our members, and help amplify and strengthen local community voices. You can nominate yourself for the role or if you know someone who could be a great Rep, do pass this on!
If you want to ensure the voices of VCSE groups are heard and understood and you’re keen to share your knowledge and expertise across a broad range of partnerships and agendas we would love to hear from you!
Deadline for return of nomination form is midday on Friday 29th May 2026.
Voting by our members will take place in June. Election results will be announced on 8 July and induction date will take place on 14 July.
Still undecided? Watch the videos/see quotes below from some of our fantastic reps talking about their experiences:
- Caroline Ridley – Health and Wellbeing Rep
- Kirsty Walker – Communities Rep
- Rachael Swann – Mental Health Rep
“Being a rep is a wonderful way to learn more about the City, how it works and to influence the way services and activities are developed to make them better and more effective for local people. Through my Communities Rep role, I have been able to enhance understanding of our approaches, maintain and increase investment opportunities and really champion the role of voluntary and community sector across the full range of our delivery specifically also always the essential contribution of small groups and volunteers to the vibrant, inclusive and amazing life in our City” Joanna Martindale, Communities Rep
“Being an Environment Rep (together with Cat Fletcher) has provided me with so many great opportunities to have conversations with people across the city about climate, nature and the citywide response to a heating world. In the face of such an overwhelming issue, it’s vital that everyone can see the part that they can play – and the community and voluntary sector has a significant role to play in that. In particular, being a rep has enabled me to take part in the National Lottery-funded Climate for Communities programme (led by Trust for Developing Communities, in close partnership with Community Works, Brighton & Hove City Council and Climate Outreach along with 20 other local community partners) which is engaging people across the city to link their day-to-day concerns and actions with wider climate issues.”Les Gunbie – Environment Rep
